Welcome to PEP, Albany, NY!

People for Exceptional Progress (PEP) is a non-profit charitable organization. The local chapter was founded in 2001 by parents and professionals who wished to communicate with others regarding research information on all treatments and care for children who are sensory challenged.

We promote and share information on cutting-edge, research-based treatments that may help children with these diagnoses:

ADD/ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome (AS), Dyslexia, Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD), Autism Spectrum Disorders, Language Delays, Learning Disabilities (LD), Sensory Processing Disorders, and other related disorders

If you've been looking for a forum where you can discuss the pros and cons of alternative treatments for your child, you've come to the right place.  Check out our message forum.  We're interested in real solutions, not just identifying our problems and challenges.

If you find the message forum here to be too cumbersome, try our yahoo message forum at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pepalbany_NY/.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:
"Remove the rock from your shoe rather than learn to limp comfortably." --from Inneractions by Stephen C. Paul and Gary Max Collins (quoted in the Feb. '06 issue of Guideposts magazine)

"False hope is an oxymoron." --from a speech by Raun Kauffman, college graduate and inspirational speaker who used to be severely autistic and whose IQ was once thought to be less than 30.

"When tearful parents come up to me to talk about their child's 'learning disorder,' I ask them, 'Oh, do you mean his learning opportunity?' "--Kinko's founder Paul Orfalea, whose dyslexia didn't stop him from turning a struggling California copy shop into a $1.5 billion-a-year company (quoted in the March '06 issue of Guideposts magazine).
